Verdi's Stiffelio - An Opera With A Turbulent History
Verdi's opera "Stiffelio" was repeatedly censored and revised -- until the composer finally withdrew it from circulation. Parts of the original score, which were incorporated in the later reconstruction of the opera, are preserved at the Archivio Ricordi in Milan. Approximately 1,200 opera lovers attended the Berlin premiere of "Stiffelio" at the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt on February 1, 2017.
