Bertelsmann operates in the core business fields of media, services and education in around 50 countries worldwide.The Bertelsmann divisions are RTL Group (entertainment), Penguin Random House (books), BMG (music), Arvato Group (services), Bertelsmann Marketing Services (direct marketing and print activities), Bertelsmann Education Group (education) and Bertelsmann Investments (international network of funds).

Financial Strategy

Bertelsmann uses various financial instruments to diversify its financing sources. In this context the capital market plays an important part in Bertelsmann's financial strategy. Credit ratings and capital market transparency make a considerable contribution to the Group’s financial security and independence.

Profit Participation Certificates

With the Profit Participation Certificates (PPC) 2001 (ISIN DE0005229942) and the PPC 1992 (ISIN DE0005229900) there are two of Bertelsmann issued PPCs. The Bertelsmann PPC 2001 which reflects 94 percent of the existing nominal PPC volume provides greater trading volume and thus meets the liquidity requirement for stock market trading.

Bonds

Bertelsmann is a capital market-oriented but unlisted company and has been making use of the financing opportunities offered by the capital market for a long time to diversify its financing portfolio and to ensure its long-term financing. Currently listed bonds with a total issue volume of more than EUR 5 billion are outstanding. Bertelsmann is one of the largest issuer of EUR-bonds in the media-segment.
