UFA Fiction Series ‘Maxton Hall’ To Return For A Second Season

The TV series “Maxton Hall – The World Between Us,” produced by UFA Fiction for Amazon Prime Video, has achieved the largest global audience for a non-US title in the history of Prime Video in its launch week. In view of this great success, it has now been decided that the series, which is based on the “Maxton Hall” series by German author Mona Kasten, will return for a second season.

The new TV series “Maxton Hall – The World Between Us” is based on the award-winning bestselling novel “Save Me,” book one in the globally successful “Maxton Hall” series by German author Mona Kasten. The series, produced by UFA Fiction, is also a global success on the streaming service Amazon Prime Video, which has now announced that it has commissioned a second season from UFA Fiction. The series is available exclusively on Prime Video as part of the Prime membership.

#1 in the Prime Video charts

“Maxton Hall – The World Between Us” achieved the highest global launch-week viewership for a non-U.S. original title in the history of Prime Video in the first week following its debut on May 9. The German series is now #1 on the Prime Video charts in more than 120 countries and territories and #3 in more than 50 countries and territories – including the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa. “Maxton Hall – The World Between Us” has been enthusiastically received by fans around the world, who have given the series a 95 percent audience rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The modern love story between James Beaufort (played by Damian Hardung) and Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) is also currently the most streamed title on Prime Video in Germany and has been number one in the German Prime Video charts since May 9. As announced by UFA and Prime Video, Damian Hardung and Harriet Herbig-Matten will return for the second season in the lead roles of James and Ruby. The new episodes are based on author Mona Kasten’s second book in the series, “Save You,” and will once again be produced by UFA Fiction.

Euphoric response from around the world

“Though our project was launched as a local production for the German market, Prime Video first spread enthusiasm for it in-house and then took it out into the world,” says Ceylan Yildirim, producer at UFA Fiction. “We are overwhelmed by the euphoric response from around the world to our first season and are so grateful to be able to continue telling Mona Kasten’s moving love story. The cast, crew, and we ourselves are excited and ready for season two.” James Farrell, Vice President International Originals at Amazon MGM Studios, said: “‘Maxton Hall – The World Between Us’ proves once again that local content with compelling stories has the power to audiences around the world. After the French original ‘Medellín’ and Spain’s ‘Culpa Mía’ and ‘Reina Roja’, ‘Maxton Hall – The World Between Us’ is the next European success to inspire a global audience. We look forward to the second season.” Philip Pratt, Head of German Originals at Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video, added: “‘Maxton Hall – The World Between Us’ tells a universal story of love between two people from different worlds that has captivated audiences around the world. We can’t wait to begin production on the new season and continue telling the story of ‘Maxton Hall – The World Between Us’.”
