The series based on original screenplays by bestselling author Ferdinand von Schirach won Best Screenplay as well as the Dior Grand Prize for the production’s outstanding innovation and overall performance. The legal drama was the only German production in the competition, and prevailed over all other nominated international series. “To be the only German production competing at the ‘Canneseries’ is a special honor for us and an accolade for the Moovie team and all the creative people on and off camera,” says Hauke Bartel, Head of Fiction at RTL Deutschland. “We are thrilled that the production has now also won the award for Best Screenplay and the Dior Grand Prize and it’s a great recognition of the claim to quality with which we are driving forward our drama campaign for RTL+, RTL and Vox.”
With “Ferdinand von Schirach – Glauben,” the former criminal defense attorney turned writer makes a very special debut: This is the first time he has been the sole author of a screenplay, and it has immediately gone on to garner international recognition. Inspired by the 1990s justice scandal in the German city of Worms, Schirach’s seven-part series highlights social developments, such as public debates increasingly moving onto social media where outrage, hatred, and hysteria often seem to overcome common sense. The series stars Peter Kurth and Narges Rashidi and also features Sebastian Urzendowsky, Désirée Nosbusch, Katharina Marie Schubert, Julika Jenkins, and Michael Pink.
