RTL’s ‘Jungle Show' Gets Off To A Roaring Start

Now in its 18th season, RTL’s jungle camp is still a reliable audience magnet: on Friday and Saturday, “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!” achieved high market shares; on Saturday, the live show was actually the evening’s most-watched program on German television among young viewers.

It was a perfect start for the 18th season of RTL's “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!” (German franchise of "I'm a celebrity – Get me out of here!"): The “jungle show” achieved high market shares on both the opening day, Friday, and on Saturday.

On Friday evening, 4.0 million people (18.9 percent of the viewer market) watched the season opener of the live show during primetime. At its peak, as many as 4.72 million viewers ages 3 and up were watching. Among 14- to 59-year-olds, the figure was 2.56 million, for a market share of 29.7 percent. The show hosted by Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen also did well with Germany’s young viewers, with 1.62 million viewers between the ages of 14 and 49, or 36.9 percent of the market. The show thus secured the Friday night ratings lead among both the 14-to-49 and 14-to-59 age groups.

Most-watched program of the day on Saturday

Following on from the jungle camp, “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! Die Stunde danach” also made a strong showing, attracting viewer market shares of 23.8 percent (14 to 59 year olds) and 31.2 percent (14 to 49 year olds). 

On Saturday, RTL’s “jungle camp” was the most-watched program of the day among young viewers. The second episode of “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!” was a resounding success from 8:15 p.m. on: in the 14-59 and 14-49 target groups, the TV format achieved market shares of 21.2 percent (2.17 million viewers) and 26.5 percent (1.38 million ). Among 14 to 49-year-olds, this made it the most-watched program of the day. A total of 3.31 million viewers ages 3 and up (market share: 13.5 percent) tuned in to watch during primetime.

Afterwards, “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! Die Stunde danach” attracted 16.9 percent of the 14-to-59 demographic and 24.8 percent of the 14-to-49 demographic. The jungle talk show hosted in Cologne averaged 1.88 million viewers.
