RTL Deutschland And Vodafone Agree On Partnership Extension And Expansion

RTL Deutschland and Vodafone have extended their existing partnership and aim to further expand it in the future. Content from streaming and linear television will be accessible via Vodafone’s TV and entertainment platform even more easily. For RTL Deutschland, the agreement is an important step for expanding the reach of its streaming offer RTL+ and, at the same time, securing the linear distribution of its TV channels.

RTL Deutschland and Vodafone, according to the company Germany’s largest cable network operator, will continue to jointly bring the popular content of RTL Deutschland to more than 11 million Vodafone TV customers in streaming and linear TV. The partnership has been extended and will be further expanded in the future, as the two companies announced.

For making access to the popular content and brands of RTL Deutschland even easier for Vodafone customers, an even more comprehensive integration in Giga TV, Vodafone’s TV and entertainment platform, is planned. In the future, the free-TV media library content of RTL can be accessed via the RTL+ app. Loyal Vodafone customers will soon get the opportunity to get to know the streaming service RTL+, Germany’s leading provider with almost 5.6 million subscribers, as part of the Vodafone benefits program “Vodafone Happy”.

“An important step for expanding the reach of RTL+”

Additionally, Vodafone customers can access nine free-TV and four pay-TV channels of RTL Deutschland nationwide in the entire Vodafone cable network and via the over-the-top offers when booking the appropriate program package: the free-TV channels RTL, Vox, Nitro, NTV, Super RTL, RTL up, RTL Zwei, Vox up and Toggo plus, as well as the pay-TV channels RTL Crime, RTL Living, Geo Television, and Geo Wild.

“We are pleased to further expand and extend our good partnership with Vodafone,” said Andre Prahl, Chief Distribution Officer RTL Deutschland. “The comprehensive agreement secures Vodafone customers access to the broad content offer and popular brands of RTL Deutschland. At the same time, the agreement is an important step for expanding the reach of our streaming offer RTL+ and, at the same time, securing the linear distribution of our TV channels. Together with Vodafone, we will continue to develop new TV offers and products from which users will benefit.”

Marc Albers, Acting Head of Private Customers at Vodafone, said: “We are delighted to continue our longstanding cooperation with RTL Deutschland. It is a win-win situation for both parties: Our TV customers continue to have access to the attractive entertainment offers of RTL and benefit on Giga TV from cloud-based recording options and other comfort functions. At the same time, RTL can use the access to millions of cable households and develop new TV offers with us.”
