RTL Announces ‘All-Star Season’ Of Its Jungle Show
Ever since RTL aired the first season of “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus” in 2004, the jungle show has been a reliable audience magnet for the broadcaster. In late summer, as part of the show’s 20th anniversary year, the channel will air the first “all-star season” of the jungle show, featuring twelve former contestants.
Season 17 of RTL’s successful show “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus” (“IBES” – the German incarnation of “I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here”) just ended with Lucy Diakovska being crowned the new “Jungle Queen” – and already the broadcaster is talking about new plans and has announced a nice surprise for all fans of the jungle show. To mark the 20th anniversary of “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!” this year, the jungle will return in summer for the first time. This was announced by the two IBES presenters Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen on Monday evening’s reunion show “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! Das große Wiedersehen,” in which the candidates of the 17th season gathered once again in Australia.
“The jungle has found another worthy majesty, and that’s just the first piece of good news,” said Jan Köppen on the show. “The second is that this time you won’t have to wait until next January for the next jungle adventure. We’ll be back this summer with an all-star season. Some are even calling it the first real celebrity version: after 20 years, twelve former jungle stars venture on the adventure of their lives again – in South Africa. We can already reveal two names: Sonja and I will of course be there.”
And so, “Ich bin ein Star – Showdown der Dschungel-Legenden” will see a reunion of former “IBES” campers from previous seasons late this summer. And the terrain is not exactly unfamiliar: As in Season 15 in 2022, koalas and kangaroos will be swapped for lions and leopards. In South Africa, the candidates can expect wild animals, spectacular bush trials – and of course Dr. Bob will be there, too.
