Now he is continuing his solo musical career with BMG: Taylor has signed a global recordings deal with Bertelsmann’s music arm. His new album is scheduled for release later this year.
The Grammy Award-winning, multi-Platinum singer-songwriter, actor, and New York Times best-selling author, Corey Taylor has signed a new global recordings agreement with BMG to release his upcoming solo studio album, “CMF2.”
The album, to be released later this year on Taylor’s own label imprint Decibel Cooper/BMG, is the follow-up to his 2020 critically acclaimed debut solo album “CMFT,” which catapulted Taylor to Number One on the Billboard Hard Rock Songwriters chart. The song “CMFT Must Be Stopped” has racked up over six million YouTube views for its star-studded music video.
In 1992, Corey Taylor founded the hard rock band Stone Sour, for which he is still the singer and guitarist, and additionally has performed as the singer of the metal band Slipknot since 1997. Both bands have been very successful on the road: Stone Sour has had two gold albums, six multi-platinum, platinum and gold singles and five top 10 entries on the Billboard 200 charts, while Slipknot boasts 13 Platinum and 44 Gold albums, three of which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 charts. Taylor has collaborated with numerous other artists and bands while also pursuing successful solo projects. As an actor, he can be seen in numerous film and television roles, and as a writer he has published four novels, of which “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven” even made the “New York Times” bestseller list. He also wrote a monthly column for the English music magazine “Rock Sound” for many years. Taylor’s solo albums show his broad musical spectrum, in which he incorporates elements from hard rock to classic rock and punk rock to hip-hop.
‘They came in super hot wanting to work with me’“
I can’t tell you how excited I am to be working with BMG,” said Taylor. “I haven’t felt this driven and determined since I first started out in ‘99. BMG is the new bastion of Rock and Metal, and with them ready to go, I can tell you we’re heading for big things.” And, as Taylor told “Billboard” magazine: “I wanted to work with BMG because they came in super hot wanting to work with me, and they’ve been keeping the fires burning for rock, punk and metal over the last few years.” Jason Hradil, Executive Vice President, New York and Senior Vice President International Marketing at BMG, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Corey Taylor to the BMG family. His new album is an extension of the incredible body of work he’s assembled over his career and we can’t wait for fans around the world to hear it later this year.” Thomas Scherer, President, Repertoire & Marketing, Los Angeles and New York, added: “We were completely blown away after hearing Corey’s new album. His music is absolutely brilliant with the marketing skills to match. It is an honor to be the partner for such an inspiring artist and entrepreneur like Corey Taylor and amplify his vision globally!”
