New Bertelsmann Annual Report Showcases the Group’s Diversity, Internationality and Creativity
- Interactive Annual Report 2024 now available online
- Leitmotif: “Bertelsmann Is All this and More”
- Letter collages with photographs by Jim Rakete visualize corporate diversity
One visual highlight of this year’s report is the creative design: both the central leitmotif and the five strategic priorities are presented as artistic alphabet collages compiled from photographs by the renowned photographer Jim Rakete. The images come from the “Bertelsmann Is All This and More – by Jim Rakete” art project presented last year at the Corporate Center in Gütersloh. This is complemented by a key visual that unites all corporate divisions in one multifaceted image: the Bertelsmann “B” collage.
Karin Schlautmann, Executive Vice President Corporate Communications at Bertelsmann, said: “Bertelsmann stands for creativity and entrepreneurship – and these are precisely the values reflected in this year’s annual report. Jim Rakete’s unique visual language gives our report an additional emotional and artistic dimension that makes Bertelsmann’s international diversity visible.”
The letter collages visualize not only the leitmotif, but also Bertelsmann’s five strategic priorities, which are key to the company’s sustained success. The modern design is complemented by an interactive layout with videos, audio samples and links that turn the report into a multimedia experience.
The 2024 Annual Report consists of an image section and a financial section. The financial section, which provides transparent and detailed information on the past year’s financials, this year for the first time contains a detailed Group Sustainability Statement. In this way, Bertelsmann is taking account of the increased importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and providing a comprehensive overview of its sustainability strategy and measures.
The image section presents milestone successes that illustrate the Group’s versatility: Stefan Raab returns to the TV business with new projects, Sonopress launches EcoRecord, a sustainable media production company, and Bertelsmann Investments promotes innovative business models with the financing of Rozana. This year’s Annual Report also includes a chapter on the company’s history, “190 Years of Bertelsmann,” which highlights key milestones – from its beginnings as a publishing house to its transformation into a global media, services, and education company.
The interactive annual report is available at ar2024.bertelsmann.com . To accompany its publication, the “Bertelsmann Is All This and More” video trailer will be shown on the Group’s website and social media channels.
