“Klopp” is the title of a new book Liverpool FC is publishing in honor of Jürgen Klopp, one of the most successful coaches in the history of the storied club. The 288-page glossy volume, a classic coffee-table book, will be published on September 26 in the U.K. by Ebury Spotlight and in the U.S. and Canada by Ten Speed Press; both imprints of Penguin Random House. According to a press release from the Premier League club, the book is “packed full of exclusive interviews and incredible insights from current and former players, rival managers and those who worked most closely with Klopp.” The text is complemented by 200 photographs from the LFC archive, and a foreword by Klopp himself.
The book includes Mike Gordon – president of Fenway Sports Group – explaining what made Klopp a perfect fit for Liverpool, soccer star James Milner describing how he set about transforming the club, teammates Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk revealing how he convinced them to sign, and Jordan Henderson opening up on what Klopp said in his team-talk to inspire the legendary Champions League comeback against Barcelona in 2019. Scottish soccer legend Sir Kenny Dalglish also recalls the victorious 2019-20 Premier League season and how the German ended the club’s 30-year wait for the title, saying: “I said when he was appointed, ‘Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for take-off,’ and I wasn’t wrong. He took us on some journey.” Salah adds: “The boss improved everything during his time here, everybody loved him, and he’s been a great manager, that’s plain to see. It’s been incredible to play for him.” There was even praise from the competition, for example from Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola: “Jürgen’s team helped us to arrive at our limits. This is the truth. They have been our biggest rival, our biggest opponent by far.”
Commenting on the new book, Mike Cox, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Liverpool FC, said: “‘Klopp’ is the definitive account of his incredible time as manager of LFC, from the people who worked with him most closely day in and day out. We’re so proud to have been able to produce this for our fans and football supporters, covering the highs and the lows, from his very first day in charge to his very last. Enjoy the incredible journey once again.”
