Gruner +Jahr Magazines Now Available On Apple Newsstand

It’s the content that matters. Twelve Gruner + Jahr e-magazines are now available from the App Store newsstand: "Stern,” “Brigitte,” “Brigitte Mom,” "Capital,” “Gala,” “Geo,” "Geo Special,” “Neon,” "View,” " P.M,” “Business Punk “and "11 Freunde” are bringing quality journalism to the iPad. G+J says the launch of the e-mags on the Apple newsstand is an important step in its digitization strategy, as this opens up another digital sales channel for the publisher’s brands.

The e-mags now bring Gruner + Jahr’s broad portfolio of titles and the G+J brands’ high-quality text, information and photos to users on the Apple newsstand as well. Many of the e-magazines also include multimedia features such as additional audio and video content, e.g. videos of Hans-Ulrich Jörges’ “Zwischenruf” column in "Stern" magazine, or interactive graphics, such as 360-degree panoramic views in “Geo." G+J reports that, overall, the e-mags are getting good to excellent ratings from Apple users.

"We offer quality journalism in print and digital – regardless of the platform. Our goal is to deliver G+J content to our readers in all relevant formats and on all relevant platforms,” says Stan Sugarman, Chief Digital Officer at G+J. "Our fascinating content is ideally suited for relaxed reading on an iPad. By placing it on the Apple newsstand, we are further expanding our digital offering and catering even more strongly to our readers’ needs and requirements."

The placement of the e-mags on the Apple newsstand was realized by a team of G+J colleagues from various departments. “We have a great project team to thank for the fact that our e-magazines are now available on the Apple newsstand," says Michael Heitmann, Commercial Director G+J Digital, who managed the project. "Colleagues from a wide range of departments teamed up on this project to work towards a shared goal. It worked splendidly, and I would like to thank everyone involved."

The project team consisted of Antje Schlünder and Kerstin Füllgraf (marketing), Christian Sothmann and Michael Friedrich (front-end and back-end solutions), Felix Massheimer and Jörn Tekaat (launch management), Nicol Lüers (legal), Anne Kaestner (project management support), Franziska Kipper and Suntka von Halen (PR).
