Last Friday, the U.S. Recording Academy announced this year’s nominees for the world’s foremost music awards, the Grammys. And as every year, numerous BMG artists and songwriters are in the running for one or more of the golden gramophones. In addition, two audiobook productions by Penguin Random House Audio have also been nominated for a Grammy. Two nominations for Jelly Roll

BMG stars and songwriters received ten direct nominations – while also contributing to more than 35 additional nominated works across nearly every genre. Jelly Roll, who celebrates his fourth career Grammy nomination, leads BMG’s nominees: His hit single “I Am Not Okay,” from the number-one album “Beautifully Broken,” scored two nominations: one for Best Country Song and one for Best Country Solo Performance. Reigning Best Country Album of the Year winner Lainey Wilson returned with a second consecutive nomination in the category for her latest critically acclaimed album release, “Whirlwind.” Spiritbox celebrate their second Grammy nomination; this year, the song “Cellar Door” from their latest EP, “The Fear of Fear,” is in the running for Best Metal Performance.

BMG songwriters from BMG have been nominated in a number of prestigious categories, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Grammy award-winning duo D’Mile and Bruno Mars scored a Song of the Year nomination for their chart-topping global single “Die With a Smile” – the pair last won Song of the Year together in 2022. Among BMG’s publishing clients, songwriters Jeff Gitelman and Kevin Theodore are in the running for Best R&B Song for “Ruined Me” (sung by Muni Long), while Nasir Pemberton, aka Digital Nas, is nominated in the Best Rap Song category for “Carnival” (sung by Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, and ¥$). Rounding out the list of BMG nominations are Anoushka Shankar’s album “Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn,” which was shortlisted for Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album, and Pepe De Lucía and Paco De Lucía’s album “Pepito y Paquito,” which is a contender for Best Historical Album.
