Goldmann To Publish Anthony Hopkins Memoir in German
The German edition of “We Did Ok, Kid,” the memoir of the famous actor, will be published on November 12.
On November 4 this year, “We Did Ok, Kid,” the memoir of renowned actor Anthony Hopkins, will go on sale in the U.S. Penguin Random House Verlagsgruppe has acquired the German rights to the memoir. The work, whose German title has not yet been determined, will be published by Goldmann Verlag on November 12. “It is a great honor to publish the long-awaited memoir of Sir Anthony Hopkins,” says Stephanie Taverna, Head of Publishing at Goldmann Verlag. “I have complete confidence that this moving, intelligent, and entertaining book will delight its readers!”
“‘We Did Ok, Kid’ is a raw and passionate memoir from a complex, iconic figure who has inspired audiences with remarkable performances for over 60 years,” writes the publisher. And the author himself writes, in his foreword: “There is a photograph I keep on my phone of my father and me on the beach when I was a child. I often tell that boy: ‘We did OK, kid.’ I wonder how a boy from Wales, the son of a baker, got here. My entire life is a great mystery. This book is my story.”
Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) is one of Britain’s best-known actors. He began his career on the stage, working under Laurence Olivier, before appearing in several critically acclaimed films. In a career spanning six decades, Anthony Hopkins has thrilled audiences worldwide with films including “The Silence of the Lambs,” “The Remains of the Day,” “Thor,” and “The Father.” He recently starred in the series “Those About to Die” and will soon be seen in a biopic about the Maserati family, directed by Oscar-winner Bobby Moresco. Anthony Hopkins has received numerous awards, including two Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award.
