German Television Awards 2024: Nominations For RTL Deutschland And UFA
RTL Deutschland and UFA channels have received 20 nominations for the German Television Awards this year. The jury of the 25th German Television Awards recently determined which productions, journalistic and individual artistic achievements of the 2023/24 season are in the running for the awards, which will be presented on September 24 and 25.
The nominations for outstanding achievements in the past TV year for the 25th German Television Awards were recently announced. An expert jury chaired by producer and former UFA CEO Wolf Bauer evaluated formats in the period from July 1, 2023 until June 30, 2024. This year, 15 RTL Deutschland formats are in the running for the coveted awards, with five nominations for UFA as a TV production company.
The streaming offers of RTL+ received eight nominations. The RTL+ original “Legend of Wacken” pocketed three nominations: in the categories “Best Comedy Series”, “Best Production Design” (costumes) for Anette Schröder, and “Best Actor” for Sammy Scheuritzel. The RTL+ original “Neue Geschichten vom Pumuckl” with the famous red haired goblin is also nominated in the “Best Comedy Series” category. In the category “Best Cinematography Fiction”, Henner Besuch can hope to win a German Television Award for his work on the self-produced fiction series “Die Quellen des Bösen – Jagd nach dem Runen Mörder”. In the category “Best Art Direction Fiction”, Ralf Schreck was nominated for the production design and Mirjam Muschel for costumes for the RTL+ original “Gute Freunde – Der Aufstieg des FC Bayern” – a production of the colleagues at UFA Fiction. The survival reality “Alone – Überlebe die Wildnis” received a nomination in the “Best Entertainment Reality” category, and in the category “Best Cinematography Information/Documentary”, Nikolai von Graevenitz and Antonia Lange are nominated for “Wachtendonk”.
Eight nominations for RTL+, five for RTL, two for Vox, and five for UFA
This year, RTL can celebrate a total of five nominations. “Let’s Dance” is in the running for a German Television Award for “Best Entertainment Show”. In the category “Best Directing Entertainment”, Mark Achterberg can hope to win an award for “Let’s Dance”. Florian Wieder, Per Arne Janssen (set design) and Paola von Griesheim (props) are also nominated for “Let’s Dance” in the category “Best Art Direction Entertainment”. “Die Verräter – Vertraue niemandem!” is in the running for “Best Entertainment Reality”. Additionally, Sonja Zietlow can celebrate a nomination for her presentation of “Die Verräter – Vertraue niemandem!” in the category “Best Entertainment Program/Best Host in an Entertainment Program”, and Laura Wontorra can hope to win in the category “Best Entertainment Program/Best Host in an Entertainment Program” for her presentation of the entertainment show “Drei Gegen Einen”.
Vox is in the running with two nominations this year. In the category “Best Factual Entertainment”, the cooking format “Mälzer und Henssler liefern ab!” is nominated, and Laura Wontorra for her presentation of “Grill den Henssler” in the category “Best Entertainment Program/Best Host in an Entertainment Program”.
In addition to the format “Gute Freunde – Der Aufstieg des FC Bayern” produced by UFA Fiction for RTL+, UFA is nominated for the successful Prime Video original series “Maxton Hall – Die Welt zwischen uns” (UFA Fiction) for “Best Drama Series” and “Best Actor” for Damian Hardung, as well as for the documentary film “Ich bin! Margot Friedländer” in the categories “Best Movie Made for Television/Miniseries” and “Best Editing Fiction” (UFA Documentary).
Sponsored by ARD, RTL, SAT.1, ZDF and Deutsche Telekom, the German Television Awards annually recognize outstanding productions and their makers in front of and behind the camera in fiction, entertainment and information in up to 30 categories. The awards will be presented on September 24 and 25 in Cologne. The award winners in the creative individual performances will be honored on the first evening during the “Nacht der Kreativen” hosted by Esther Sedlaczek at Cologne’s Flora. On the second evening, Barbara Schöneberger will host the award gala at the MMC Studios with the presentation of the awards in the work categories. The Promotional Award and the Founder’s Honorary Award will also be presented during the gala. This year, WDR organizes the events on behalf of ARD, which is responsible this year on a rotational basis. Das Erste will broadcast the gala on September 25 at 8:15 p.m.
