Fremantle Brings New Jamie Oliver Shows To The U.S.

Fremantle has sold the broadcasting rights to six cooking formats featuring the well-known TV chef Jamie Oliver to Tastemade, a U.S. media company. They are the series “Jamie Oliver Cooks the Mediterranean,” “Jamie Oliverʼs 5 Ingredient Mediterranean Meals,” “The Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver,” “Jamie Oliver: Cooking for Less,” and the holiday series “Jamie Oliverʼs Easy Meals at Christmas” and “Jamie Oliverʼs Christmas Shortcuts.”

The U.S. media company Tastemade has acquired the broadcasting rights from Fremantle to six series featuring the well-known TV chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Jamie Oliver. Tastemade specializes in the food, travel and home & design genres. Three of the series it purchased – “Jamie Oliver Cooks the Mediterranean,” “Jamie Oliverʼs 5 Ingredient Mediterranean Meals,” and “The Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver” – will celebrate their U.S. premiere this month on Tastemade’s streaming channel Tastemade+. The three series all tie in to Oliver’s latest cookbook “5 Ingredients Mediterranean,” which was published in the U.K. by Penguin Random House UK and in Germany by DK.

On August 5, Tastemade+ will launch the cooking show “Jamie Oliver Cooks the Mediterranean,” in which Oliver explores the sun-drenched flavors and traditions of some of the world’s most diverse and vibrant cuisines. A day later, on August 6, the series “Jamie Oliverʼs 5 Ingredient Mediterranean Meals” kicks off, packed with simple, delicious recipes inspired by Mediterranean cuisine that require just five everyday ingredients. On August 17, “The Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver” will celebrate its U.S. premiere. The series is a new cooking competition format in which the U.K.’s best undiscovered cooks compete against each other to win a cookbook contract. In addition to these three formats, Tastemade also secured “Jamie Oliver: Cooking for Less,” and the holiday series “Jamie Oliverʼs Easy Meals at Christmas” and “Jamie Oliverʼs Christmas Shortcuts.”

“Jamie Oliver is one of the most recognized chefs in the world; we’re thrilled to bring his newest shows to US audiences for the first time and to have him back on our channels,” said Jay Holzer, Tastemade’s Head of Programming. “We could not be more excited to partner with Fremantle to share this slate of fresh content with our viewers who are hungry for cooking shows that are as informative as they are fun to watch.”

“Fremantle’s partnership with Tastemade provides a unique opportunity for culinary enthusiasts,” said Trey Durst, Vice President of U.S. Distribution at the Fremantle subsidiary FMI. “These series showcase Jamie’s empowering and inspirational approach to cooking, and we are so excited to bring them to US homes with Tastemade.”

As a part of the deal and for a limited time, new Tastemade+ annual subscribers will receive a free copy of Jamie Oliver’s latest cookbook, “5 Ingredients Mediterranean.”  It is published by Michael Joseph, a Penguin Random House UK imprint. According to Tastemade, Tastemade+ offers subscribers in the U.S. ad-free on-demand access to over 1,000 hours of TV content and more than 12,000 recipes.
