Country Music Awards For BMG Songwriters And Artists
The Country Music Association (CMA) in the USA once again presented its renowned CMA Awards. In Nashville, BMG songwriters and artists were among the honorees. The winners include country star Lainey Wilson, who received two awards, and songwriter Dan Wilson. More BMG songwriters were honored at other award presentations.
They are among the most important country music awards: This year’s 58th CMA Awards of the Country Music Association in the US. The winners announced last week during a big gala in Nashville again included BMG songwriters and artists. Country star Lainey Wilson received two CMA Awards. Additionally, BMG is able to celebrate several ASCAP Awards and BMI Country Awards, which were also presented recently.
Lainey Wilson named ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ for the third consecutive year
Grammy award-winning BMG songwriter Dan Wilson landed the first award of the evening for “Song of the Year” with “White Horse”. The song would later go on to also receive “Single of the Year”, presented to performing artist Chris Stapleton. “White Horse” was also recognized at the recent Grammy Awards for “Country Song of the Year”.
BMG artist Lainey Wilson, who hosted the evening, received a CMA Award in the “Video of the Year” category for her song “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”. She also performed a show-stopping version of her single “4x4xU”, bringing the arena to their feet for a standing ovation. After which, she was honored with the award for “Female Vocalist of the Year” – her third consecutive year receiving the honor. Cody Johnson won in the “Album of the Year” category for “Leather”. The album also features the Platinum certified hit “The Painter”, which was nominated for “Song of the Year”, co-written by BMG songwriter Kat Higgins.
BMI Awards and ASCAP Awards were also presented
The artists performing on stage during the awards presentation included BMG artist and songwriter Jelly Roll. Together with Brooks & Dunn, who won for “Vocal Duo of the Year”, he delivered a live performance of “Believe”. Closing out the show, he performed a fiery version of his newest single “Liar” from his album “Beautifully Broken”.
BMI and ASCAP also presented their annual country music awards in Nashville last week, and several BMG songwriters were recognized. The most performed ASCAP songs from BMG songwriters include Carly Pearce (“We Don't Fight Anymore”), Kurt Allison (“Try That In A Small Town”) and Dan Wilson (“White Horse”). Legendary British pop and rock artist David Bowie, who passed away in 2016, was posthumously honored with an ASCAP Country Music Award for his song “Young Love & Saturday Nights”. BMG represents music rights to numerous of his songs from 1970-1977. At BMI’s 72nd Annual Country Awards, songwriters and publishers of past year’s 50 most performed songs from BMI’s Country catalog were recognized, including BMG songwriter Kat Higgins for his work on “The Painter” in the category “CMA Song of the Year”, BMG songwriter and BBR artist Chayce Beckham for his Number One hit “23”, Jelly Roll for his chart-topping songs “Need A Favor” and “Save Me”, and Tully Kennedy for the song “Try That In A Small Town”.
