BMG Songwriters Nominated For Brit Awards 2024
Several songwriters and artists signed to BMG have been nominated in various categories for this year’s Brit Awards. They include BMG star Kylie Minogue, who has received her first nomination in 13 years. The Brit Awards are among the most important prizes in British pop music; the awards ceremony takes place in London on March 2.
BMG artists and songwriters have scored nominations in multiple categories for the 2024 Brit Awards, some of Britain’s most prestigious music awards. Australian-British BMG pop star Kylie Minogue received her first nomination in 13 years, and is in the running for “International Artist of the Year” following the huge success of her number one album “Tension” in 2023. Irish singer-songwriter CMAT, whose music publishing rights are managed by BMG, is competing in the same category. This year’s Brit Awards will be presented on March 2 at London’s O2 Arena and will be broadcast live on ITV1.
BMG’s songwriters made a strong showing in the „Alternative Rock Act” category as well. Three of the five nominations in this category went to the bands Blur with BMG songwriter Dave Rowntree, Bring Me The Horizon, and The Rolling Stones, who released “Hackney Diamonds,” their first new studio album since 2005, in 2023. The album charted in the top 10 in 32 countries, reaching #1 in 20 of them.
In the “Song of the Year with Mastercard” category, BMG songwriters were recognized for their contributions to four songs including “Dancing is Healing” from Rudimental with Charlotte Plank and Vibe Chemistry, co-written by BMG songwriters Sarah Blanchard, Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan), and Sarah Sheldrake; “Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2” from PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, co-written by BMG’s Mura Masa; “Who Told You” from J Hus, co-written by BMG songwriter EY; and “Wish You The Best” from global star and BMG publishing client Lewis Capaldi off his 2023 Number One album, “Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.”
Other nominations for BMG songwriters went to Blur and K-Trap (as Headie One & K-Trap) who received nominations for Group of the Year, as well as to Hal David in the “International Song of the Year” category for Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red.” Rounding off a successful year with a nomination in the keenly fought “Mastercard Album of the Year” category are Blur with “The Ballad of Darren” and BMG songwriters EY, TSB, and, AOD, who co-wrote J Hus’ album “Beautiful And Brutal Yard.”
