BMG has released Kylie Minogue’s highly anticipated new album, which includes the previously released worldwide hit “Padam Padam.” The new album, produced by the group's sister company Sonopress as a CD and vinyl disc, titled “Tension,” immediately entered the UK Top 20 and reached number seven on the UK Airplay chart. Fans on social media and professional music critics alike responded positively to the release. British “Rolling Stone” wrote, “Brilliantly good fun. It’s soaring pop music with a huge amount of heart that brings big emotions to the dance floor - much like its creator.” The release was accompanied by a special pop-up shop on Regent Street in London, stocked with exclusive merch and products selected by Kylie Minogue herself and open for just a few days.
Commenting on “Tension,” Kylie said: “I started this album with an open mind and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums, there wasn’t a ‘theme’, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song. I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon, and melancholic high.”
Kylie Minogue worked with a number of producers for the new album. Seven of the tracks were produced and co-written by her longtime collaborators Biff Stannard and Duck Blackwell.
Over the course of her career in music, Kylie has amassed sales of over 80 million records worldwide, five billion streams, and eight UK Number One albums. Her multiple awards include three BRIT awards, two MTV awards, and a Grammy. Kylie is the only female artist to score a Number One album and Top 10 singles in five consecutive decades in the U.K.
