Apple TV+ Commissions Second Season Of ‘Where’s Wanda?’ From UFA Fiction
The series was the streaming service’s first-ever German production – another eight episodes are planned.
In October 2024, “Where’s Wanda?” launched on Apple TV+; the streaming service’s first German production was produced by UFA Fiction. Now fans of the series can look forward to more of its dark humor: Apple TV+ has commissioned a second season with another eight episodes from the Fremantle subsidiary. For the sequel, International Emmy Award nominee Heike Makatsch (“Tatsächlich ... Liebe”), German Comedy Award winner Axel Stein (“Crime Game”), multiple award-winning actress Lea Drinda (“Der Greif”), and Leo Simon return to the screen in their leading roles. It is not yet clear when the new episodes will be available on Apple TV+.
After its worldwide debut, “Where’s Wanda?” was hailed by critics as an “electrifying” and “outstanding” series that “keeps viewers hooked with a unique blend of dark comedy and suspense” and features “immensely likable and often touching performances” from the “talented cast.” The first season achieved a rare 100 percent critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans praised the series as “the kind of gem that only Apple seems capable of” and see it as “a compelling new addition” to Apple TV+’s growing international lineup.
Desperate struggle for the truth
In the second season, the Klatts (Axel Stein and Heike Makatsch) have returned to something like normalcy in their lives when their daughter Wanda (Lea Drinda) is suddenly caught with a dead body - apparently in the act. In order to prove her innocence and not lose her again, the Klatts throw themselves into the search for the real culprit. But their investigation leads them deep into the criminal underworld of their seemingly sleepy suburb. Will their desperate fight for the truth save them - or just drag them deeper into chaos? And can they find out the truth about that fateful day before it’s too late?
The complete first season of “Where’s Wanda?” can be streamed worldwide on Apple TV+. The series was created, written and executive produced by Olives Lansley (“Flack”), and directed by award-winning filmmakers Christian Ditter (“How to be Single”) and Tobi Baumann (“Faking Hitler”).
