The new documentary series “Wir sind klein und ihr seid alt” brought good viewer ratings for Vox on Monday evening: in the target group of 14-59 year-old viewers, the intergenerational project achieved a market share of 6.7 percent. A total of 1.23 million viewers watched how ten bright four year-olds met lonely seniors who live in a senior’s home near Cologne. Although the retirees are well off financially, they lack vital energy and physical fitness. In a total of three episodes, Vox documents the project in which children and retirees spend time together for six weeks, and which, above all, brings one thing to the seniors: a new purpose in life.
The first episode of the intergenerational project received an enormous amount of feedback on Facebook and Twitter. Many viewers were enthusiastic about the show and left positive and, at times, highly emotional feedback on the Vox channels. The second episode of “Wir sind klein und ihr seid alt” will air on Vox next Monday with a focus on the sports highlight of the project. On the playing field, the seniors will prove to themselves and the children what they still can do. The documentary series is based on the hit British show “Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds”, to which Vox secured the rights from Red Arrow Studios International. The original version won two important awards in 2017 at the International Format Awards in Cannes and was honored in 2018 at the Edinburgh TV Awards.
