RTL II has joined forces with Tele 5 and Bavaria Film to launch a tree-planting drive for Plant-for-the-Planet. The children’s and youth initiative Plant-for the-Planet has set itself an ambitious target: “Let’s plant a million trees in every country in the world!” After all, planting trees is the cheapest and easiest way of fixing CO2, bringing greenhouse gas emissions down to zero and mitigating the climate crisis.
RTL II wants to do something about the climate crisis too, so it has teamed up with Tele 5 and Bavaria Film to plant at least 77,777 trees on behalf of Plant-for-the-Planet before the World Climate Conference in November 2017.
RTL II, Tele 5 und Bavaria Film’s websites now feature tree counters and “Plant a tree with us!” donation buttons. No donation is too small: just one euro is enough to buy a tree. No matter which media company viewers and fans choose to handle their donation, they will be contributing towards the shared goal of planting 77,777 trees. The trees their donations purchase will later be planted in a special plot near Cancún, Mexico.
RTL II is running an awareness-raising trailer to inform viewers of the drive and ensure it gets as much media support as possible. The channel is also donating 10,000 trees to the project.
The global initiative Plant-for-the-Planet was launched in 2007 by Felix Finkbeiner, who was just nine years old at the time. It aims to combat the climate crisis through a worldwide tree-planting campaign.
