Gold Certificate of Sponsorship for Bertelsmann

Usually, students receive awards from universities or are awarded scholarships from companies for their outstanding scholastic achievements. At the end of January, it was the sponsors’ turn to receive recognition: as part of a scholarship celebration in the aula of the castle of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU, University of Münster), Rector Johannes Wessels handed out certificates of sponsorship to the 75 sponsors of the WWU "Pro Talent" scholarship program – and Bertelsmann was among the companies that received this honor.
The rector thanked the numerous donors and sponsors who support more than 200 students with high achievements and commitment this year. "With your personal commitment, you financially and idealistically sponsor young people in a very positive way," Professor Wessels said. "You give them the opportunity to get insights into your biographies, companies and day-to-day working life that would otherwise be impossible at such an in-depth level. I thank you personally and on behalf of the entire university for that." The scholarship donors were awarded with certificates in gold, silver and bronze depending on the amount of their sponsoring. The Bertelsmann representatives present at the event received a gold certificate.
"Opportunity to contact top students early on"
During the following reception in the lobby of the castle, the sponsors and students had an opportunity for an exchange and to get to know each other. At the occasion, the students were very interested in learning more about Bertelsmann and its divisions, its corporate culture and, naturally, entry possibilities for interns and university graduates.
Bertelsmann has been sponsoring especially talented students and students with special biographic challenges since 2012 as part of the Germany Scholarships project initiated by the Federal Government. Currently, 27 scholarships from Bertelsmann sponsor students at the University of Münster, the University of Mannheim, the University of Cologne, the University of Bielefeld, the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and the University of Paderborn in the fields of business management, media sciences and the humanities. At the WWU alone, Bertelsmann currently sponsors ten scholarship holders in the fields of business management, communication science and psychology. Angelika Jagusch, Director Corporate Management Development of Bertelsmann, says: "The scholarships give Bertelsmann the opportunity to contact top students early on."
At the end of March, the Bertelsmann scholarship holders of all universities will be invited to the Corporate Center in Gütersloh, where they will have the opportunity to directly contact various representatives from the world of Bertelsmann.
