Bertelsmann Executive Board Adopts ‘Energy And Climate Policy’

Subject: Environment
Country: International
Category: Project

The Bertelsmann Executive Board has adopted a Bertelsmann Energy and Climate Policy. The document reaffirms the company's commitment to minimizing the negative effects of its business activities on the environment and climate, and describes specific measures for effective environmental and climate protection.

In its recently adopted Energy and Climate Policy, Bertelsmann’s Executive Board committed itself to minimizing the negative effects of business activities on the environment and the climate. The new document describes specific measures Bertelsmann companies can take to effectively help protect the environment and curb climate change. These include purchasing renewable energies, increasing energy efficiency, and developing climate-friendly products and services. “With confidence in our colleagues’ creativity and entrepreneurship, I am convinced that together we will continue to expand our commitment to the environment and climate,” says Immanuel Hermreck, Group Chief Human Resources Officer.

The companies’ local commitment is reinforced by the Group-wide target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions  by 20 percent by 2025 compared to 2014. The new “green.screen” digital environmental platform is used to measure local energy consumption and calculate the corresponding emissions. “Green.screen” is currently being used as part of the Group-wide environmental data collection process at some 500 Bertelsmann locations worldwide. In addition, a “be green Day” campaign is also planned for this year, which will once again involve many employees at their local companies.
