Two years ago, Russia started its war of aggression against Ukraine. Since then, the war operations have continued without interruption. “Stifting RTL – Wir helfen Kindern” launched a big donation campaign on February 22, 2022, the first day of the invasion, across all of RTL Deutschland’s platforms to help people in the Ukrainian regions affected by war and violence. More than €30 million has been raised, and the relief will continue, as Stiftung RTL emphasized.
Visit to Ukraine
Together with its partners, including UNICEF, UNHCR, Malteser, Blau-Gelbes Kreuz, Caritas International, SOS Children’s Villages, Action Medeor and ISAR Germany, the RTL Foundation supports people in war zones as well as refugees in their current places of residence – for example in Germany. According to Stiftung RTL, more than 60 relief projects have been and are being supported. At the occasion of the second anniversary, RTL’s Head of Charity Wolfram Kons traveled to Chernomorsk near Odessa, where Stiftung RTL together with Action Medeor supports traumatized children with free medicine and meals, among other things. “People in Ukraine impressed me very deeply during my visit to the country, which is now entering its third year of war,” said Wolfram Kons. “Their willpower and strength to defend themselves against the Russian aggressors and never giving up is incredible. We can learn a lot from them. I met many heroes there, big and small, women, men, and children. The situation has dramatically worsened over the past several weeks both militarily and economically, and not just near the frontlines. We must and will continue to support the people of Ukraine, especially the children and families. Please make a donation and continue to help us,” said Kons, calling upon the citizens in other countries.
