Simulation training to improve care for autism patients
The Relias approach centers around integrating simulation training into its curriculum. This provides authentic scenarios that enable learners to apply new knowledge in a risk-free environment. Mirroring real-life situations, these simulations are known to improve knowledge retention and cultivate critical thinking skills. The methodology is also financially advantageous, significantly reducing training costs while elevating educational standards.
“We’re dedicated to empowering healthcare professionals with the tools they need to deliver exceptional care and improve patient outcomes,” said Maria Samot, Senior Vice President of Education Product Management at Relias. “Receiving this award is an honor, and it fuels Relias’ pursuit of innovation, encouraging us to continue developing best-in-class content that bolsters learning with immersion, engagement, and lasting impact.”
The award-winning course, “A Day in the Life: An ASD Perspective,” offers users a unique, firsthand glimpse into the daily challenges faced by individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Captured through the lens of a “GoPro” camera, this simulation seamlessly blends immersive first-person perspectives with the accessibility of online training. “By immersing participants in simulated experiences, you can foster empathy and understanding, which can prompt clinicians and direct support professionals to refine their approaches when caring for people with disabilities,” said Steve Johansson, Managing Director, EdTech Breakthrough. “The quickest way to measurably improve the lives of the most vulnerable members of society is for those who care for them to truly understand. Relias is setting a new standard for educational excellence, strengthening the healthcare workforce by pioneering cutting-edge advancements in healthcare education and crafting solutions that address the evolving needs of clinicians and their patients.”
