Health managers in dialogue with Stroke Aid

Subject: Society
Country: Germany
Category: Project

At the recent "Health & Well-being Workshop", health managers from various German group companies discussed the topic of strokes. They exchanged ideas with experts from the German Stroke Foundation.

Health management experts from Bertelsmann's German companies recently met with the aim of advancing the topic of health and well-being at Bertelsmann. Colleagues from the divisions and solution groups as well as from Bertelsmann's company medical service came together in Gütersloh to exchange experiences and work together on selected topics.

The event was enriched by Markus Wagner and Christina Franzisket from the German Stroke Foundation, who gave an informative guest lecture on the foundation's prevention work. After all, knowing how to behave in an emergency situation such as a stroke can save lives. This is why the German Stroke Foundation,  founded by Liz Mohn in 1993, endeavours to educate people about strokes and their symptoms in companies, among other things. Employees and managers should also be informed about the risk factors that can lead to a stroke, for example in order to change their own behaviour or the conditions in the company. According to Markus Wagner and Christina Franzisket from Schlaganfall-Hilfe, 70 per cent of all strokes could be prevented.

"Strengthening the health and well-being of our employees"

Another central component of the workshop was the exchange of experiences among the participants. By discussing case studies, challenges and innovative solutions, valuable insights were gained and new perspectives in the area of health management were opened up. The exchange among colleagues aimed to further strengthen and promote the health awareness and well-being of Bertelsmann employees.

"I am very pleased about the positive, appreciative and open collaboration in this group," says Silvia Hafemeister from RTL Germany. "Together, we can develop strategies and realise projects that strengthen the health and well-being of our employees at Bertelsmann." Angela Barreiro from Arvato explains: "I am delighted with the constructive and open atmosphere in this group. We can learn a lot from each other and allow all employees to benefit from certain programmes." The collaboration between the health management experts will continue in the future, with the group meeting in person once a year and online several times a year.
