Corporate Center – Gütersloh
The media, services and education company with 85.000 employees around the world has its headquarters in Gütersloh, Germany. From humble beginnings in 1835, Bertelsmann developed into an international media group after the Second World War. What hasn’t changed is the Gütersloh headquarters, where its business activities are managed and coordinated.
The Corporate Center was inaugurated in 1976 and enlarged in the following years due to increasing staff numbers. Departments such as Corporate Communications, Finance, Consulting and HR have their offices here.
In November 2001, the German term Hauptverwaltung for the Bertelsmann headquarters in Gütersloh was replaced by the internationally common designation “Corporate Center.” The term underlines the corporate, group-level nature of the facility, and makes it clear that the decision-making center for the company’s concerns is located in Gütersloh.
