M6+ On Track For Success
Two months after its launch, the streaming service M6+ of the French Groupe M6 has already accumulated a total of 100 million hours of streamed content. The number of daily viewers has increased by 55 percent year-on-year, due in part to the broadcasts of UEFA EURO matches. M6+ replaced 6play in May.
Around two months ago, M6+, the advertising-based streaming service of Groupe M6, was launched, and it has since become a favorite of French TV audiences. The platform, which replaced 6play, has already accumulated 100 million hours of streamed content, which equals a year-on-year increase of 61 percent. Compared to last year, the number of daily viewers has increased by 55 percent. According to Groupe M6, M6+ is ranked as the most entertaining French streaming platform, with an average rating of 88 percent among viewers aged 15 and above. The platform is praised for being innovative and modern. The M6+ app has been downloaded 2.2 million times since its launch – 40 percent of which are on connected TVs. The platform is now available on all connected TV devices in France.
One of the program highlights on M6+ were the broadcasts of UEFA EURO matches. Groupe M6 acquired the broadcast rights for a total of 13 matches of the tournament, which were simultaneously shown on M6 on linear TV and on M6+. While the broadcast on M6 attracted 46.9 million viewers, three million football fans chose M6+. With more than one million viewers tuning in, the quarter final between France and Portugal was the most successful M6+ broadcast – a record for the streaming service.
Bedrock brings M6+ to Apple Vision Pro
Just in time for the sales launch of Apple Vision Pro, the first portable 3D headset from Apple, Bedrock has launched a fully dedicated version of M6+ on Apple Vision OS in Europe. Apple Vision Pro combines digital content and applications and enables users to navigate with their eyes, hands and voice. Jonas Engwall, CEO of Bedrock, says: “Bringing the M6+ platform to Apple Vision Pro shows our strong determination to embrace emerging industry trends, positioning our clients at the forefront of this new dimension of entertainment.”
The streaming service M6+ is already compatible across devices: all Apple and Android devices, Smart TVs, over-the-top (OTT) devices (Samsung, LG, Hisense, Philips, Android TV and Amazon Fire TV), and various set-top boxes. In the near future, M6+ will be integrated into in-car entertainment systems.
